In 2001, OPUS 111 added KINDERMUSIK® with Stacy to its curriculum under the licensed direction of Stacy Konczak. Designed to enrich the quality of life through study, development of skills, and exposure to the arts, we invite all ages and ability levels to participate. Student concerts, which are open to the public, offer an opportunity for performing and study through listening. June 2005, we moved to our current location in Jackson School.
The teachers at OPUS 111 are committed to attaining the highest levels of excellence in attitude, respect, motivation and musicianship. Our primary goal is to nurture the students and promote a strong sense of self-worth, discipline and responsibility. We believe that study of music enhances these fine characteristics and is essential to a persons’ well-being.
Safety & Parking:
Jackson School still maintains a Pre School program in the upstairs of the building. Suzy Sportcenter utilizes the gymnasium and office space below us. OPUS 111 students are not permitted to wander through Jackson School. Students being dropped off (parents not staying) are kindly asked to drop students off on the 6th St side of the building and they may come up the stairs. Students with parents waiting may use the parking lot. As a consideration for everyone in the parking lot ~ please park ONLY in marked parking stalls. By creating an additional section of stalls that are unmarked, students and parents may be “trapped” in. We have provided a small but comfortable reception area for students and parents to use. (*Due to limited space, you may consider a "car pool" set up if the lesson schedule allows for it.) Please do not allow your child(ren) to wait on staircase or in the hallway. Please do not drop off unsupervised siblings or friends who are not scheduled for lessons with your child during their lesson time. We are genuinely concerned for the safety of your children. We are not equipped to provide childcare for unsupervised children. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR STUDENTS USING THE RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT AT JACKSON SCHOOL. IT WILL NOT BE SUPERVISED. WE WOULD PREFER THAT STUDENTS NOT USE THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT UNLESS THEIR PARENT IS AVAILABLE FOR SUPERVISION.
Please do not assume that teachers will be available to wait after your child's lesson. Other rehearsals or concerts may be on our agendas and we may have to leave immediately following a lesson. Therefore, in order to avoid having your child wait outside by themselves, we ask that you pick them up promptly. In the event that you expect to be a few minutes late, please check with your instructor to see that they will be available. This is for your child's safety.
At
OPUS 111, you're never too young or too old to benefit
from music instruction. Young students can learn about
music before they learn to talk. Our KINDERMUISIK®
program for children birth through three emphasizes the
pleasure of making music and develops language and listening
skills. As children grow older they are encouraged to
explore individual instruction on an instrument of their
choice and play with other young musicians. (Read
this guide to selecting you child's first band or orchestra
instrument)
Classes
continue for every age and ability level, ranging from
introductory to advanced study. (Read
this article about why group classes are so beneficial)
Adults
find that studying music adds and enriching dimension
to their lives. Some adults pick up where they left off
as children. Others are enrolled as beginners, trying
something they've always dreamed of doing.
Music
Makes a Difference..
No
matter what your age, music is a universal language. And
making music is one of life's greatest joys.
Research
tells us that music study enhances self-esteem, perseverance,
problem-solving skills and provides gateways into other
forms of learning. Participation in music study also helps
to enhance interpersonal skills such as cooperation and
teamwork -- elements that re essential for life-long learning
and responsible citizenship.
Experiencing
the enrichment of the imagination, and challenging the
intellect, are fundamental benefits of music education...and
can be experienced by those from all walks of life, from
the very young to the young at heart.

are extremely important. It helps students to maintain
goals and to always strive to achieve a more thorough
understanding of what the study of music can give students
- self esteem, confidence, coordination and a general
love and appreciation for music! Scheduling of recitals
is at the discretion of each instructor.
Additional
outside performances have been at Maud Powell Birthday
Celebrations, Monster Concerts (cosponsored with Horine's
